Clinical Trial Goal


To understand how different treatments affect long‑term health and quality of life in children with SCD

You may be able to join this trial if you:


Your child:
  • Is 3 - 20 years old 
  • Has SCD
  • Is one of the following:
    • Eligible for BMT with a fully matched family member as their donor
    • Currently getting treatment for SCD
  • You agree to have other standard tests done to see if your child can be in the clinical trial 

Trial Details


This is not a treatment trial. Your child will continue receiving the care their doctors recommend. 

This trial observes and compares outcomes between 2 groups: 
Group 1 - Allogeneic BMT using a matched related donor
Group 2 - Non-transplant treatment

Clinical trial doctors will be monitoring:
  • Cognitive functions, like attention and memory
  • Family impact
  • Hospital and emergency visits
  • Pain events
  • Quality of life
  • SCD-specific symptoms

Your child will be monitored for up to 3 years.
