NCT03904134

Clinical Trial Goal

To find out if donor selection based on an individual’s DSP score gets patients to allogeneic BMT more quickly and with better outcomes.

You may be able to join this trial if you:

  • Have 1 of the following diseases:
    • Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
    • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
    • Hodgkin lymphoma
    • Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS)
    • Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), such as:
      • Burkitt lymphoma
      • Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)
      • Follicular lymphoma
      • Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL)
      • Marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
      • Small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL)
      • Waldenström's macroglobulinaemia
      • Other non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL)
    • Severe aplastic anemia (SAA)
    • Sickle cell disease (SCD)
  • Have not had an allogeneic BMT
  • Agree to have other standard tests done to see if you can be in the clinical trial

Trial Details

A DSP score is calculated based on a patient’s race, ethnicity and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) type. It is not calculated based on a patient’s current health status.

Before allogeneic BMT, the clinical trial doctor will place you into 1 of 3 groups based on your DSP score:
  • Group 1 - Matched unrelated donor (MUD) very likely
  • Group 2 - MUD very unlikely
  • Group 3 - MUD less likely

Group 1:
This group is for patients with a greater than 90% chance of having a fully-matched unrelated donor available according to the DSP score. In this group, you’ll get an allogeneic BMT using fully-matched donor cells.

Group 2:
This group is for patients with less than a 10% chance of having a fully-matched unrelated donor available according to the DSP score. In this group, you’ll get an allogeneic BMT using haploidentical (half-matched) related donor cells, mismatched unrelated donor cells or umbilical cord blood cells.

Group 3:
This group is for patients whose DSP score was not high or low enough to be included in the other 2 groups. In this group, you’ll get an allogeneic BMT using whichever donor cells you would’ve gotten if you weren’t enrolled in this trial.

Everyone will get standard treatment before allogeneic BMT. On transplant day, the blood-forming cells from a donor are given to you through an intravenous (IV) infusion.

After you finish treatment, the clinical trial doctors will check your health for 2 years.

Choosing a donor based on an individual’s DSP score is new and unproven.
